You need to book an appointment before you go to a Driver and Vehicle Licensing Office. We can only help you if you have an appointment.
You can change or cancel an appointment in our appointment booking service. To do so, you must state a reference number. You received the reference number when you booked your appointment.
Your requirements
We offer practical driving tests in categories B and BE.
You can authorise the driving school to book a session on your behalf or you can book the session yourself.
We carry out vehicle tests and check-ups of light and heavy vehicles, subject to booking a session.
Tests and check-ups of vehicles of more than 7,500 kg are carried out at Gullesfjord vehicle test station.
Collecting and handing in number plates
Book an appointment for picking up and handing in number plates.
It is no longer necessary to hand in number plates at a Driver and Vehicle Licensing Office. You can deregister and re-register your vehicle online.
Sending number plates by post
You can send number plates to the licensing office’s postal address.
Order temporary number plates
You can order temporary number plates on Your Page or you can book an appointment to buy temporary number plates at a Driver and Vehicle Licensing Office.

Payment at the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Office
At the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Office you can pay in one of these ways:
- Using a Norwegian bank card or Mastercard (contactless or with a PIN code)
- Using a mobile phone or smartwatch for contactless payment
- In cash
You cannot pay by Vipps.

Remember to bring valid proof of identity when you visit the driver and vehicle licensing office.
