Driving licences larger than bank card must be renewed before you can drive
From 1 January 2023, you can no longer drive with this type of driving licence. To be able to drive again, you must renew your driving license.
You can renew your driving licence at a Driver and Vehicle Licensing Office (trafikkstasjon).
If your driving licence was issued between 1 April 1979 and 31 December 1997 (inclusive), you have a driving licence that is larger than a credit card (Vienna model 1 or 2).
This driving licence type is no longer valid as from 1 January 1 2023.
If you have not renewed your driving licence, you can no longer drive. You can drive again if and when you renew your driving licence.
How to renew your driving licence
You need to take a new photo to renew your driving licence. You take the photo at a Driver and Vehicle Licensing Office (trafikkstasjon). Remember to bring valid proof of identity.
