Who needs a taxi driving test?
You need to pass the taxi driving test if you do not have a valid CPC for passenger transport or did not receive a PCV licence before 1 November 2020.
You have the required professional competence to be a taxi driver if you meet one of the following criteria:
- You have passed the Norwegian Public Roads Administration’s taxi driving test. The taxi driving test is a theory test. The written statement (decision letter) confirming that you have passed the theory test is documentation that you have the professional expertise required to be a taxi driver.
- You have a valid driver CPC for passenger transport.
- You acquired a passenger carrying vehicle (PCV) licence before 1 November 2020.
- You have training and/or professional experience as a taxi driver from another EEA country or Switzerland.
You need to renew your PCV licence within one year of expiry
If you do not renew your PCV licence from the Police within one year of expiry, you will need to pass the taxi driving test before you can apply to the Police for a new PCV licence.
When you apply, you must then attach your CPC for taxi drivers showing that you have passed the theory test.
