Cards that are lost, stolen or defective must be reported to a Driver and Vehicle Licensing Office.

If your card is lost, stolen or defective, you must fill in an application for a driver card (replacement card) and explain why you need this. You must hand in the completed application for a driver card to a Driver and Vehicle Licensing Office within 7 days.

Book an appointment to get the replacement card.

If your driver card is malfunctioning, lost or stolen, you must take printouts from the tachograph at the beginning and end of each day, write your name and driving licence / driver card number on the printouts, and sign them.

If you are unable to present a valid driver card for the above-mentioned reasons, you are allowed to drive without a card for up to 15 calendar days, or longer if required for the purpose of returning the vehicle to its base. You must bring the defective/damaged card while driving until you have handed in the card, and present it along with the printouts upon inspection.

If your driver card was lost or stolen abroad, you must report it lost in the country where it was lost, and visit a Driver and Vehicle Licensing Office (trafikkstasjon) in Norway to order a replacement card when you return. You need to book an appointment before you go to a Driver and Vehicle Licensing Office.
