Contracting strategy soon in place

Almost a year ago, the Norwegian Public Roads Administration (NPRA) and Bane NOR invited potential contractors to a "dialogue meeting” about the E16 and the Voss Line Arna-Stanghelle project. The aim was to make contractors familiar with the project and receive their input for the work on the contracting strategy for the project.

On the day of the meeting, representatives from 20 major Norwegian and foreign contractors were present in the meeting hall. In addition to taking part in the dialogue at the meeting, the contractors could also sign up for a one-on-one talk with the project in order to present their input to the project and the contracting strategy.

- We have had one-one-one talks with 15 contractors. These have been interesting discussions and we have received valuable input to our work on contracting strategy, says Project Manager Gunnar Søderholm of the NPRA.

Almost there, but Covid-19 causes delay

On the day of the information meeting, it was indicated that the contracting strategy would be completed within the second quarter of 2020. Due to the Covid-19 situation, and the need for additional investigations, the decision on the choice of contracting strategy will be adopted in the final quarter of 2020. The time for presenting the contracting strategy to the construction industry has not been decided. An invitation to a new information meeting with potential contractors will be presented on the project’s website.

- When the contracting strategy has been adopted, and we have received the required clarifications with regard to the progress of the project, we will again invite contractors to an information meeting to present our contracting strategy, Søderholm says.
