Bankruptcy and transfer of registration
If you are a trustee of a bankruptcy, you must check whether any vehicles are registered to the enterprise.
An overview of the vehicles that are registered to a particular owner may be obtained by logging in to Your Page and using the facility "Check vehicles”. Here you can search for vehicles owned by others, basing your search on a Norwegian national ID number or D number in combination with a surname, or an organisation number.
Vehicles registered to the bankruptcy estate must be registered to the new owner. You can submit the Notification of Sale on Your Page. When you submit the Notification of Sale online, you should use “Change of ownership in connection with death, bankruptcy or similar”. You must attach documentation of the appointment of the trustee.
Notice of abandonment or transfer
As a trustee, you only need to submit a notice of abandonment or a notice of transfer if the vehicle is to be registered to a new owner in the National Vehicle Register.
If the vehicle is to be abandoned to the debtor, and no changes have been made in the National Vehicle Register in connection with previous bankruptcy proceedings, the estate does not need to take any action. You can look up the vehicle's registration number and see who is registered as the owner in the National Vehicle Register by logging in to Your Page and using the facility "Find owner and vehicle information".
You notify us of the transfer of ownership by submitting a Notification of Sale online, using the facility “Change of ownership in connection with death, bankruptcy or similar”.
