Both private individuals and companies may use this facility. You must be registered as the owner or co-owner of the vehicle in order to order a Vehicle Registration Certificate.

When you have ordered a new VRC, you can download and print out a temporary VRC. You must carry the temporary VRC in your vehicle, until you have received your new VRC.

We will send the new Vehicle Registration Certificate to you by post. It will take 4-7 business days. Once you have received your new VRC, any remaining parts of your old VRC must be destroyed.

If you do not have the opportunity to order a Vehicle Registration Certificate online, you can do so by visiting a Driver and Vehicle Licensing Office and presenting proof of identity.

Book an appointment to order a VRC at a Driver and Vehicle Licensing Office, to avoid having to wait in line.

Sale and registration transfer

If you submitted a Notification of Sale for the vehicle on or after 29 April 2019, you will not need to submit Part 2 of the Vehicle Registration Certificate for the vehicle to be registered to its new owner.

If you submitted a Notification of Sale for the vehicle before 29 April 2019, Part 2 of the Vehicle Registration Certificate must be submitted when the vehicle is to be registered to a new owner.

If the Vehicle Registration Certificate has been lost, you need to report the loss before the vehicle can be registered to a new owner. You report the loss by filling out a Loss Notification form.

You can send us the Loss Notification along with a copy of your ID, using either our contact form or ordinary mail, or you can hand it in to a Driver and Vehicle Licensing Office (trafikkstasjon).
